From 2 February 2022, under current legislation, at the start of their first stop after crossing the border of a Member State, the driver must enter the identifier of the country he has crossed into on the Tachograph.
The first stop should be made at or after the stopping point, and as close as possible to the border. When crossing the border of a Member State by ferry or train, the driver must enter the identifier of the country when in the port or at the station of arrival.
On the latest generation Stoneridge smart tachographs (SE5000-8 Rev. G), when crossing the border, after stopping the vehicle, the country of entry will be suggested on the tachograph display. The driver must simply confirm that it is correct by pressing the 'OK' button.
On all other preceding model Stoneridge tachographs, the selection must be made manually following the steps below. These tachographs can be identified by the year of manufacture, or the keys present under the display.
For digital tachographs manufactured from 2010 onwards (SE5000 rev.7 and SE5000-8) press the 'OK' button and search with arrows for the 'Places' menu.
Press the 'OK' button and look for the 'Start Place' menu.
Now you can see the list of all the available countries. Select the country you have just entered, in the example below, “Albania”, and press 'OK'.
Press the 'back' button twice to return to the main menu.
For digital tachographs manufactured until 2010 (SE5000 rev. 6), these tachographs are easily recognized because there is no 'OK' key – instead there is an 'Enter' key . Press the 'Enter' key and search with the arrow keys for the 'Begin Place' menu.
Press 'Enter' and select the country you have just crossed into from the list, in the example below, “United Kingdom”, and press 'Enter' again.
Press the 'back' button twice to return to the main menu.
