MKII Monitor Flickering

MKII Monitor is flickering, how to check the condition and find the root cause, most common affecting the Class V monitor

The MKII monitor flickering can be seen in 2 different ways: full image flickering or partial image flickering

Video 1: Full Image Flickering

1- Full image flickering: can be related to several factors, depending on the ECU software version. Please follow steps below:

a) Identify the current ECU software version of the installed system, accessing by the Driver's menu -> long press the joystick's lower left button (driver side manual panning button).

b)  Scroll to Status menu and press joystick's center knob button.

c) Scroll the center knob to Mirror Eye MKII ECU tab and see which version is on Xilinx MPSoc version field:

d) If the ECU Version is 2.2.7 or lower: Proceed with the MKII ECU software update as the link >> MKII ECU Software Update.

e) If the ECU Version is 2.2.9 or higher: the issue can be caused by communication failures in the coax cable or inside the wing. Coax Cable inspection is required as per this article >> Coax Cable Connection Verification

f) If the cable is intact and the connections are well made, please contact Stoneridge Call Center to provide further remote diagnostics.

Related DTCs:

  1. Driver Side:
    1. Driver main class II / IV camera communication failure
    2. Driver backup class II / IV camera communication failure
    3. Driver main camera 35V POC open circuit
    4. Driver backup camera 35V POC open circuit
    5. CVP Driver Side Safety Fault
    6. Driver frame rate below limit
    7. Driver's monitor Heartbeat timeout
  1. Passenger Side:
    1. Passenger main class II / IV camera communication failure
    2. Passenger backup class II / IV camera communication failure
    3. Passenger main camera 35V POC open circuit
    4. Passenger backup camera 35V POC open circuit
    5. CVP Passenger Side Safety Fault
    6. Passenger frame rate below limit
    7. Passenger's monitor Heartbeat timeout
  2. Class V Side:
    1. Class V camera communication failure
    2. Class V CVP Safety Fault
    3. Class V's monitor Heartbeat timeout

    Video 2: Partial Image Flickering

2- Partial Image Flickering: can be related to a brief communication failure between the monitor and the coax cable. Typically, no DTCs are reported because the fault occurs too quickly within the monitor’s TFT. To verify, please see steps below:
    a) Try moving and forcing the coax cable near the monitor connector to simulate the failure.

    b) If the image continues to flicker again as shown in the video below, please contact Stoneridge Call Center to provide further remote diagnostics.
